Teige Gruppen statement after the Transparency Act
Teige Gruppen has ownership and activity within several business segments such as fisheries, shipping, agencies, real estate and health. Teige Gruppen conducts business development and asset management by investing capital, knowledge and experience within a number of strategic business areas. Teige Gruppen is family-owned and refers to a group of companies that are mainly organized into two parts - sea and land; Sansibar AS (shipping activities) and Kaston AS (trading and real estate activities as well as the health enterprise Medi3. This report deals with Teigegruppen (Kaston AS and Sansibar AS) and its subsidiaries.
Teige Gruppen takes its social responsibility seriously and works actively with fundamental human rights and decent working conditions in its own operations, but also towards our suppliers and business partners. Teige Gruppen's goal is that all people who supply input factors to our operations should have good lives and a living wage.
Business ethics, sustainability and social responsibility are integrated into Teige Gruppen's operations, and we are committed to conducting our business in an ethical and sustainable manner. We support and respect the principles set out in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. This is anchored in our internal policies. Teige Gruppen reports annually on equality and non-discrimination as part of our duty to promote safe and good working conditions. Teigegruppen has a deviation system that is available to all our employees with associated procedures that they are encouraged to use.
Teige Gruppen recognizes its responsibility to promote and comply with fundamental human rights and decent working conditions in connection with our service offering. Teige Gruppen maps its suppliers and business partners and conducts ongoing assessments related to risks relating to fundamental human rights, decent working conditions, sustainability and the environment. When working with due diligence assessments, we refer to the Directorate for Administration and Financial Management's high-risk list, prepared guidelines and industry-specific guidance from the OECD, and other objective sources, if applicable. When it comes to potential negative impacts on fundamental human rights and other working conditions, we have identified that the greatest risk is related to the procurement of chemicals, paint, consumables and equipment. In order to minimize any negative impact, Teige Gruppen conducts an annual evaluation of suppliers. Teige Gruppen also closely monitors suppliers and business partners, and requires documentation of a joint commitment to compliance with fundamental human rights and other working conditions.
Based on our due diligence assessments, the business initially poses limited risk of negative impacts on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions. A diverse composition of competent, committed and satisfied employees is our most important input factor.
Where we are uncertain about the impact of suppliers and business partners on the environment, we require reporting and documentation. If the documentation received does not satisfy the requirements for the protection of fundamental human rights and decent working conditions, this may have consequences for the contractual relationship with the Teige Gruppen. In normal cases, we will seek to influence the supplier to minimize risk and repair any violations that have been committed. Which measures are appropriate must be decided specifically in light of the identified negative impact, whether the risk lies with a supplier or further down the supply chain, and which measures must be assumed to be effective.
