Westing is a subsidiary of Kaston and part of Teige Gruppen. The company is a consultant and supplier of paints and protection for ships and industry, and has grown to become AkzoNobel's largest paint distributor in Europe.
Westing has 20 employees and warehouses in Eggesbønes and Harstad, as well as a sales office in Bergen. Westing has subsidiaries abroad in both Denmark and Poland.
Westing was established by Sigurd Teige in 1981 after he, as a fishing boat owner, became aware of the need and demand for paint in the maritime cluster in Sunnmøre. In 1985, Westing entered into an agreement with Jotun Marine Coatings to become a dealer within the district from the Sognefjord to Nordland county.
Westing eventually outgrew its role as a regional distributor, and Jotun chose to terminate the agreement in April 2013. That same year, Westing entered into a new distributor agreement with AkzoNobel, which opened up new markets and a larger reach for Westing. Within a few years, Westing grew to become AkzoNobel's largest paint distributor in Europe.
