Tricent launches deck coating

Press release - 29.08.25

For over four decades, Westing has delivered paint systems and surface treatment solutions to demanding industrial and maritime environments. With solid insight, market knowledge and experience from the field, Westing has been a driving force behind the establishment of Tricent – a new brand and a separate company within the Teige Group.

The products are designed to address the challenges of deck coating in demanding environments, where high wear leads to corrosion and reduced friction. Low friction on decks can create challenges in working conditions and compromise both efficiency and safety. Westing will provide technical advice, project follow-up and distribution of the Tricent products.

Senior Paint Advisor at Westing, Fredrik Baade, plays a key role in Tricent's product development. He explains that the product has been developed with a focus on both performance and sustainability:

– This is a floor and deck covering developed to solve challenges we know well. We have worked thoroughly over a long period of time and conducted pilot tests in very demanding environments. The results show that the coating is very durable and maintains a high degree of friction for a longer time than most solutions on the market. The feedback has been consistently good – both from applicators and end users, says Baade.

He adds that the long-term durability reduces the need for frequent repairs and reapplication. This results in lower costs and fewer downtimes, while also providing environmental benefits. In addition, the products being developed are VOC-free, which means that no hazardous emissions are generated during application. With this, Tricent's deck coatings take major steps in terms of both quality and environmental considerations. As a result, companies such as Norled have already chosen to use the products on board their ferries.

– We plan to establish a complete European value chain, with a production center in Norway. This is a very flexible product that, based on different additives, can be used both indoors and outdoors – with or without additives – and is adapted to the customer's needs. Durability and anti-slip properties are prioritized, explains Baade, who looks forward to presenting the product further in the market.
