A ship for unity – Parat III is resurrected with support from the business community

Parat III, the old Langevågsbåten, is back where it belongs – on the sea. After an extensive restoration, the 56-foot wooden boat was launched on Tuesday, June 10, and now marks the start of a new chapter as both a historical icon and a social meeting place.

Behind the project is Karl Johan Skårbrevik – better known as "Suppe-Kalle" – and his dedicated team at Suppebilen. Since 2017, they have used Parat III as an inclusive meeting place for people from all walks of life. The restoration has been demanding, with major replacements of the frame and safety equipment, but the result is a boat ready for new missions and new memories.

Now Parat III is back in its permanent place in Brosundet, where it functions as an open and inclusive meeting point for everyone. The boat is a lively gathering place with regular activities - including lunch served every Tuesday and dinner every Thursday on board. As a thank you to everyone who has contributed to the volunteer work, a separate summer trip for volunteers is also planned. In addition, Parat III will offer free boat trips for various institutions, such as dementia groups, and with a changing crew, more people will have the opportunity to contribute and be part of the community.

Westing is proud to have contributed to the restoration by sponsoring the paint. This is our way of supporting both heritage and community. Parat III is more than a boat – it is a living symbol of community, volunteerism and warm human encounters.
