Westing is proud supplier to prestigious project at Westcon

Westing has been selected as the supplier for one of the most exciting projects in the region: the completion of a 130-meter CLV construction vessel to be used for cable laying for DFO in Taiwan. The assignment is considered a prestigious project and a clear recognition of the company's expertise and delivery ability.

The project marks an important step for both the shipyards and the supplier community in the region. With its size and technical complexity, the vessel places high demands on expertise and collaboration across professional environments.

This is both a prestigious assignment and a clear recognition of the work we have put in over several years. The fact that Westing was chosen in strong competition is seen as a clear statement of confidence from both the shipping company and the shipyard, says Fredrik Hølvold, Head of Sales at Westing

Fredrik Hølvold, Head of Sales at Westing.

Hølvold describes the project as a combination of technical complexity, international significance and a strong regional footprint. The hull was started in Canada in 2008 and is now ready for further work in Florø. After docking in the summer of 2026, the vessel will be towed to Ølen for completion. The contract is worth around NOK 1.3 billion.

"This project gives us an opportunity to showcase the breadth of our expertise, and it will be of great significance to both the region and the international cable laying industry. We are really looking forward to delivering at this level," says Hølvold.
